Russia-ASEAN Partnership Dialogue and Cooperation was held in Moscow


The event took place on October 26, 2021 in a hybrid format


The Russian Federation and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) are celebrating 25 years of confidential partnership and 30 years of relations this year.

The Russia-ASEAN Business Council, within the framework of the interstate summit, organized in Moscow the Russia-ASEAN Partnership and Cooperation Dialogue with the participation of leading public figures of Russia and the countries of the Association.

The event was attended by 15 speakers from Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Russia, Singapore, the Philippines.


Yanti RahmanMember of the Legislative Council of Brunei and Chairman of the ASEAN Business Advisory Council, said that 2021 will indeed be an important milestone in the development of the dialogue partnership between Russia and ASEAN.

The ASEAN-Russia Partnership and Cooperation Dialogue gives us, especially business and industry, an excellent opportunity to take stock and see how we can move forward and benefit from the launch of a new trade and investment roadmap.

"I believe that our goal in this dialogue is to chart a path that will lead to increased cooperation, increased trade and investment flows between ASEAN and Russia”.

Communicating in the language of dance, we will be able to better understand each other and even without translators, we will be able to talk about the beautiful, about the eternal, about the lofty, because classical ballet is always high examples of both spirituality and beauty”.


Mohd Munir Abdul MajidChairman of the CARI Research Institute (Malaysia), emphasized the need to understand what unique opportunities we can arise from cooperation between Russia and the ASEAN countries. We are talking about advantages in the defense industry, digital technologies, and the software sector.

What is our advantage in cooperation with Russia? We need to focus on digitalization and technologies that will not only accelerate the economic recovery process, but ensure that this recovery is greener”.


Dmitry Petrovsky, Head of the Asian Region of the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate, Advisor to the Patriarchal Exarch of Southeast Asia, added:

Political ties between Russia and the ASEAN countries are developing very actively. We observe with great satisfaction how the Russia-ASEAN Business Council is developing multi-format business ties between our countries".


Rushan Khazrat AbbyasovFirst Deputy of the Council of Muftis of Russia and the Spiritual Directorate of Muslims of Russia, is allowed that for more than 1000 years there have been no conflicts between countries on religious grounds.

Unusually, such a Russia was chosen in vain as a large international conference as an interreligious and interethnic dialogue, which will be held next 2022 in May, in St. Petersburg. The event will be held with the support of the UN Secretary General".

He also reported on the international film festival held in September 2021 in Kazan, adding:

"We will be glad to see pictures of our esteemed partners from ASEAN countries at the next film festival".

“Unfortunately, our contacts with the countries of the Pacific region have not yet been restored, but let's talk about the future ... when we forget about the pandemic, or adapt to it, that we can return to our previous format of life and to our previous contacts.”

She also announced the upcoming conference in Dresden, which will be held in a hybrid format for the first time. 

"At the conference, I plan to talk with the director of the National Museum in Singapore about the possibilities of future cooperation between this museum and the Tretyakov Gallery."
